Bruce Lee was highly gifted and way ahead of his time! A true Mixed Martial Artist, he saw the value of cross training in different arts and being open minded to new information and change. The process is called Jeet Kune Do, the physical system is what we call Jun Fan Gung Fu. Kicking, boxing, striking, trapping, locks, tie-ups and takedowns, Jun Fan is a truly integrated martial art.
The fastest growing martial art in the world, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gives the student highly effective tools to defend themselves when things go to the ground! BJJ is designed to help the smaller person gain leverage and advantage against any opponent. Our approach to teaching BJJ is just like our other classes in that we make it to accessible to a wide variety of people. This class will increase agility, flexibility and strength. It will stimulate the mind as it develops the body.
This kickboxing class incorporates styles and methods from areas such as Panantukan (Filipino Boxing), Jun Fan Kickboxing (Bruce Lee’s style), Savate, MMA/CSW, and Muay Thai. Students attending these classes will learn a variety of skills while getting a tremendous workout!
Often mistaken as exclusively a stick fighting art, Kali (Escrima/Arnis) is a complete fighting system with empty hand skills (Panantukan), tie-ups, joint locks, take downs, ground fighting as well as many types of weaponry. We use the stick work to train the body mechanics, enhance timing and hand speed, and develop coordination. The kali training that has been handed down from Guro Dan Inosanto through Guro Rick Faye and Guro Andy Wilson can be very complex and artistic and at the same time highly applicable and to the point! This is another great class for any age and any skill level!
The IMA curriculum is very much modeled after the MKG Phase program with an emphasis in Kali and Jun Fan/JKD. In these classes, the students learn the benefits of cross training different techniques, approaches, and methods. Weaponry, empty hand, and kickboxing training will enhance the student’s attributes, jump start their ability to adapt to different situations, and promote an open mind. We recommend all students, especially the beginners, to attend the IMA classes. Beyond that, we encourage our students to mix their training, try different classes, and deepen their martial arts experience.
