Outdoor Classes a Big Hit!

Well it took a whole season to go by and since late spring we’ve conducted more than a dozen days of classes outside in the park! It adds a whole new dimension to the training and, let’s face it, here in Seattle you got to soak up the sun as much as possible! Here are a couple of pictures for various classes.

In November 2009, Seattle Integrated Martial Arts opened it’s doors in West Seattle’s Alaska Junction. The space was shared with Limber Yoga as a way for both studios to get a start in building a community of people who want to enhance their lives.
After a year and a half we’ve grown to the point where it made sense to find new spaces. Unfortunately we were not able to find a perfect space for both busineses to co-occupy and with the uncertainty of the development plans of the 4200 building, we had to find separate locations.
Limber Yoga has relocated to a wonderful new building on California Ave between Raymond and Graham. SIMA has moved down to the corner of Fauntleroy and Genesse into a 2600 square foot warehouse. More room to train! Look forward to an open house in early September!
The contractors are West Seattle busineses. Tom McKnight was the contractor and Sean Cummings (also a SIMA student) of All Pro Paint did an awsome job on the ceiling and walls!

Ajarn Chai Visits the North West

For more than 40 years now, Ajarn Chai Sirisute has tirelessly promoted the art of Muay Thai all over the world. His commitment to his students and their continued improvment is astounding! Six members of SIMA made it to Oregon last weekend to train in a two day seminar with the grandmaster and it was more than worth the time and money.
I hope as many of our students as possible will make the time to see Ajarn Chai in these next few years. It is truly inspiring to be a part of the Thai Boxing Association.

Balintawak Workshop with GM Bobby Taboada

Students from more than 4 schools attended a specially scheduled workshop with Grand Master Bobby Taboada of the Balintawak system. GM Bobby worked on power striking, footwork, body positioning, and dis-arms.
